BISA : cfp Naspir Working Group at BISA Dec 09‏

Dear all, The British International Studies Association annual conference istakingplace in Leicester this year 14-16 December. The deadline for submitting paper, panel or roundtable proposals to BISAisFriday 1 May. If you would like to offer a paper or panel under theauspices of the BISA Naspir Working Group, please let me know as soon aspossible and certainly no later than Thursday 30 April, with fullrequireddetails (see below). I will be happy to try to place individual papers. The papers/panels/roundtables should relate to the working group's statement of purpose which is as follows:"to promote politics and international relations scholarship whichsupports non-violent action against oppression. We have members around the worldand across academic disciplinary boundaries. We are scholars, students, non-academic activists and interested citizens, with theoretical,empirical and/or campaigning interests." For more on Naspir, go to http://www.naspir.net. BISA's guidelines include the following: For all proposals, I need each person's name, email, institution,address,BISA membership status (currently paid up or not) and BISA membernumber.You must be a BISA member to attend. For panels, you need to include convenor, chair, discussant (optional)anda title and abstract for the panel as a whole. Then you need titles andabstracts for the papers and contact details (as above) for all papergivers. For round tables, you need to include convenor, chair and a title andabstract for the round table as a whole. Then you personal details(asabove) for all participants. The use of discussants in panel proposals is optional. Convenors caninclude them at their discretion. Panels may have either 4 paper giversandno discussant OR 3 paper givers and a discussant. In planning your attendance this year, please also take note of thefollowing points taken from the BISA website: - No single delegate can be involved in more than THREE panels (in acapacity as either a paper-giver, chair or discussant). - Further to this, each delegate is limited to presenting no more thanONEpaper at the conference. - BISA will not accept graduate only panels. At least one paper-givermustbe full-time academic staff. BISA also encourages a range ofinstitutionsbeing represented on a panel.
