ECPR General Conference, Potsdam
10-12 September 2009
Panel on the Salience of Foreign and Security Policy
At next year’s ECPR General Conference in Potsdam, we are organizing a panel on the ‘Salience of Foreign and Security Policy’ to national publics, the mass media, political parties and members of parliaments.
The panel will focus on, but is not restricted to the domestic salience of foreign affairs in Britain, France, Germany and the US. For a synopsis of the panel, see http://www.ecpr.org.uk/potsdam/panel_details.asp?panelID=241.
On the occasion of this panel, we would like to invite paper proposals dealing with
- theoretical perspectives on the domestic salience of foreign affairs,
- methodological approaches to measuring domestic issue salience,
- empirical analyses on the salience of foreign and security policy (incl. European policy) to national publics or the media either in single countries or in a comparative perspective,
- empirical analyses on the salience of foreign and security policy (incl. European policy) to political parties or members of national parliaments either in single countries or in a comparative perspective.
Abstracts of the proposed papers should contain a maximum of 300 words. The proposals should be submitted via the ECPR’s online paper submission form: http://www.ecpr.org.uk/potsdam/panel_details.asp?panelID=241. The deadline for paper proposals is 1 February 2009. If accepted, papers must be uploaded until 15 August 2009.
